Shafaq News/ The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, announced on Thursday that the parliament had received the names of 40 candidates for the post of President of the Republic, and that the session devoted to electing a new president for Iraq will be held after checking these names by the concerned authorities, revealing at the same time that the Prime Minister The local district of Kirkuk, Rakan Saeed al-Jubouri will not continue in his position.
Abdullah said in a statement to reporters on the sidelines of his attendance at a celebration of the Kurdish Dress Day in Kirkuk, that “the nomination process for the post of President of the Republic has ended, and the names of 40 candidates for this position have been submitted,” indicating that Parliament will proceed with the procedures by sending these names to the concerned authorities (Integrity). criminal record, accountability and justice) for the purpose of scrutiny.
He added that after the completion of the vetting process, Parliament will announce the names in general.
On the other hand, on the position of the governor of Kirkuk, Abdullah said: Whoever holds this position must be from its original inhabitants and known for their integrity, and that what happened during the past period of destroying societal peace in the governorate should not continue, stressing that with regard to the issue of corruption in the governorate And the appointment of a head of the local government will open an investigation in this regard.
He continued by saying: We are making efforts to engage with the components in the province to appoint another person to the position of governor, pointing out that there is no agreement on Rakan Saeed’s continuation in his position, and at any moment we start dialogues to replace him, and assign another person to replace him, agreed upon by all the components of the province.
