On Sunday, Uday Abdul-Hadi, a member of the Coordination Framework, acknowledged that more than one candidate had been nominated for the Ministries of Defense and Interior. He indicated that this week would be crucial in determining the fate of the nine ministerial portfolios still being managed by acting ministers in Ali al-Zaidi’s government.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, Abdul-Hadi explained, “More than one candidate for the Ministries of Defense and Interior has been nominated in recent days, and the names have been submitted to the political forces and the Prime Minister. It is not yet possible to definitively confirm who has been agreed upon.”
He added, “This week will be important and decisive in determining the fate of the nine ministerial portfolios still being managed by acting ministers in the government, especially given the political moves underway to finalize the remaining ministerial appointments.”
He noted that “important meetings will be held in Baghdad over the next two days to finalize the agreement between the political forces. Therefore, it is expected that by the end of this week, a decisive session of Parliament will be convened to present the names of the candidates for the remaining ministries, including Interior and Defense.”
