On Sunday, Adi Abdel Hadi, a member of the coordinating framework, confirmed that no progress had been made in reaching an agreement on who would head the next government.
Abdul-Hadi told Al-Maalouma that “the file of choosing a consensus candidate for the Coordination Framework forces to head the next government has not witnessed any significant progress so far,” noting that “viewpoints are still divergent within the framework.”
He added that “the number of candidates, according to the available data, has decreased to three names,” noting that “the decision on any of them may be postponed until after the first session of the sixth parliamentary term, which is expected to be held tomorrow, Monday.”
He explained that “the failure to put forward a candidate at this stage does not mean reaching a dead end, as the dialogues are still ongoing, and there is ample time to finalize the choices of the coalition forces and steer their course towards a consensus candidate.”
