On Tuesday, Uday Abdul-Hadi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed that the case of former Deputy Minister of Oil Adnan al-Jumaili, who is currently detained, remains open. He indicated that the amount of money uncovered continues to increase daily as more theft and embezzlement operations are revealed.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, Abdul-Hadi explained, “The Adnan al-Jumaili case is not yet closed, and investigations are ongoing, especially since investigative committees are uncovering more theft, embezzlement, and fraud operations aimed at controlling public funds on a daily basis.”
He added, “The total amount of money seized from al-Jumaili may be much higher than the announced figures, especially since investigations are continuing to uncover funds belonging to him in several governorates, and perhaps even outside the country.”
Abdul-Hadi pointed out that “the Adnan al-Jumaili case has revealed significant loopholes and methods of fraud that have been exploited for years to seize state funds,” indicating that “there are many similar cases within state institutions, which necessitates a more serious and comprehensive approach to combating corruption.”
He stressed that “all files referred to the investigative committees and the Integrity Commission in Baghdad and the other governorates must be acted upon,” noting that “the extent of corruption in the governorates may be greater than the Adnan al-Jumaili case, and therefore this matter must be taken into consideration and the green light given to open all files related to corruption and the embezzlement of public funds.”
