A Source Reveals The Union’s Intention To Withdraw Saleh’s Candidacy For The Presidency

On Tuesday, a political source revealed that there is an intention to change the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) candidate Barham Salih for the presidency.
The source said in a statement to the “Information” agency, “There is an intention by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to replace their candidate for the presidency, Barham Salih, following the recent decisions he took against the drug dealer, son of the former governor of Najaf, Louay Al-Yasiri, and others.”
The source added, “It is likely that there will be a meeting between the leaders of the National Union during the next two days regarding the removal of Barham Salih and his replacement with another candidate.”
The representative of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Dylan Ghafour, confirmed in a previous statement to the “Information” agency, today, Tuesday, that there is no official statement by the leaders of the Union on the decision of the President of the Republic so far, explaining that the court’s decision put the ball in the court of the members of the House of Representatives, not the Presidency of Parliament.
And the Federal Supreme Court decided, during its session, which it held today, Tuesday, to oblige the Presidency of the House of Representatives to present the issue of reopening the door for nomination for the presidency of the Republic to the House of Representatives, indicating that it is permissible to reopen the door for nomination again for the position of President of the Republic, but by a decision of the House of Representatives and not from the presidency of the Council. 25
