A source in Erbil province stated on Monday that the ruling parties in the Kurdistan Region were behind the bombing of the home of the region’s president, Nechirvan Barzani, due to internal conflicts related to positions and control of oil resources.
The source told the Information Agency that “the Kurdish parties vying for influence and positions are behind the bombing of the Kurdistan Region president’s house in Duhok,” noting that “the attack is part of a plan to exert pressure to extract political concessions and material gains, especially regarding control of oil fields and refineries.”
The source added that “the explosive-laden drones used in the attacks are transported and concealed inside vehicles specifically designed for this purpose before being launched towards specific targets linked to disputes between the ruling factions,” pointing out that “the bombings targeting Erbil and Sulaimaniyah are related to internal conflicts.”
The source indicated that “some of these attacks are being promoted in the media as carried out by unknown perpetrators, despite the fact that the perpetrators are known within the region,” emphasizing that “the ruling parties are experiencing a state of division and intense conflict over control of the region’s administration and resources.”
