“A secret pipeline 500 meters long”… A crude oil theft operation foiled in Basra

The National Security Service announced on Tuesday that it had thwarted an organized attempt to smuggle crude oil in Basra Governorate, through an oil breach that included laying a secret pipe more than 500 meters long connected to the main pipeline.
The agency stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that “its detachments in Basra, after intelligence follow-up and obtaining judicial approvals, were able to seize a crude oil smuggling operation on the highway linking Basra and Dhi Qar.”
He pointed out that “the operation revealed an oil breach represented by a pressure pipe buried underground extending for a distance of 500 meters to the main pipeline, in an attempt to steal and smuggle crude oil.”
The statement added that “the forces seized two tankers at the site, one of which was loaded with crude oil while trying to escape, while the other was empty and prepared to receive smuggled quantities.”
He pointed out that all the seized items were handed over to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures against those involved.
