An informed source said Friday, that the appointment of Mustafa Abdul Latif Al-Mushat as director of the intelligence service during the time of former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was through a forged document.
The source explained in an interview with Buratha News Agency that a letter was sent from the office of the Director of US National Intelligence (ODNI) to the office of former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi referring to the appointment of Mustafa Abdul Latif Mushtat as Director of Iraqi Intelligence. The source added that an Iraqi translator working with the US military, Wathiq Al-Ibrahimi, 34, passed this forged book using a pseudonym, William J. Peterson, where Al-Ibrahimi signed as head of the Middle East office for ODNI.
The source continued as saying that the FBI had discovered the matter and confirmed that this document, which was sent to the office of former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, was a forgery.
The source said that Wathiq Al-Ibrahimi was arrested after committing the forgery and was tried and sentenced to two years in prison on charges of unauthorized use of an official body.
It is noteworthy that Wathiq Al-Ibrahimi worked as a translator for the US forces after the fall of the buried Saddam regime, then he immigrated to the United States of America in 2009, benefiting from the program to protect people who worked with US forces in Iraq and was sponsored by a US army officer who had served with him in Iraq
