Political analyst Qasim al-Tamimi believes the path is now clear for selecting the next prime minister and forming the new government.
Al-Tamimi told Al-Maalouma, “Things are no longer as complicated as before, which requires the coordinating body to intensify its meetings to reach a consensus on the new prime minister.”
He added, “The country’s situation necessitates that political parties prioritize the national interest in order to quickly agree on a specific candidate from among the nominees to present to the president for the task of forming the government.”
He explained that “external pressures are present at all levels of the political process, but Iraq’s current situation requires distancing itself from these pressures and carefully considering a candidate who serves the country’s interests and leads it to safety, avoiding creating problems within the political process.”
