Member of the Badr parliamentary bloc, MP Mukhtar al-Youssef, suggested on Monday that the cabinet would not be approved by parliament this week, attributing this to internal complexities and external pressures hindering the formation process.
Al-Youssef told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “Current indications suggest that the cabinet will be difficult to put to a vote in the near future due to deep disagreements over entitlements and portfolios, both within the Coordination Framework forces and among Sunni political figures.”
He added, “Another factor is American interference and direct pressure on the prime minister-designate regarding the selection of specific individuals within the cabinet,” noting that “this interference has contributed to complicating the political landscape and placing further obstacles in the way of finalizing the cabinet.”
Al-Youssef predicted “splits within individual political blocs due to differing viewpoints on the distribution of positions,” stressing that “the lack of consensus could push the political process toward further deadlock if there is insistence on imposing wills.”
