Salah Boushi, a leading figure in the State of Law Coalition, confirmed on Thursday that reports circulating about changing or withdrawing the coalition’s ministerial candidates, particularly its nominee for the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Qasim Atta, are baseless and lack any official foundation. He described them as attempts at political “disruption.”
Boushi told the Information Agency, “What is being circulated in the media and on social media platforms regarding replacing Lieutenant General Qasim Atta does not reflect the coalition’s true position, which remains committed to its candidates.” He explained that “the State of Law Coalition has dealt with the nominations from the outset based on well-considered political and national calculations, far removed from any talk of spoils or gains.”
He added, “Qasim Atta remains the official State of Law Coalition nominee for the Ministry of Interior, and any talk about withdrawing or replacing his nomination does not represent a decision issued by the coalition thus far.” He indicated that “these discussions are an attempt to test the cohesion of the State of Law Coalition’s political stance.”
Bushi continued, “The coalition’s calculations were made from the beginning, and its decisions are not based on reactions or media pressure. Rather, it seeks a man capable of managing the most powerful ministry and bearing its responsibility before the state and the people.” He explained, “A decision made after careful study and calculations is not altered by leaks, nor shaken by pressure.”
