Hassan Fad’am, a leader in the Hikma Movement, confirmed that understandings within the coordination framework are still in place, and that dialogues are continuing without a final decision on the nomination of the prime minister so far, noting that the options are still multiple within the framework.
Fadaam told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is the most likely candidate at the moment, and he enjoys the support of a number of parties within the coordination framework. However, the issue of nomination still needs further studies and understandings, especially with regard to the stage of managing the state and the upcoming challenges.”
He added that “the coordination framework set a number of conditions before proceeding with the nomination of any person, and Maliki was part of formulating them, indicating that these conditions require listening to the candidate’s vision and his government program, the mechanism for managing the work team, as well as his vision for managing strategic files, including foreign relations, the economy, security, the arms file, and regional and international understandings.”
Fadaam pointed out that “the coordination framework adopts the principle of consensus in its decision-making,” noting that “what is circulated in the media does not necessarily reflect the reality of what is happening within the framework.”
