A political source revealed on Sunday details of the visit of the Iraqi military delegation, headed by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, to the city of Erbil (the capital of the Kurdistan Region).
The source told Shafaq News Agency that “the delegation will conduct a series of meetings and field visits, including a number of oil fields, with the aim of assessing the security situation and discussing measures to protect the facilities and workers in them.”
He added that “the delegation will provide direct security guarantees to the oil companies operating in the region, confirming that the attacks that targeted some oil sites during the past period will not be repeated.”
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, received the delegation headed by the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah.
According to a statement issued by Barzani’s office and received by Shafaq News Agency, the Chief of Staff of the Army presented a briefing on the objectives of the military delegation’s visit to the Kurdistan Region, which comes in accordance with the directives of the Federal Prime Minister to follow up on efforts to maintain security and stability, especially protecting oil companies and putting an end to targeting them.
In turn, the Prime Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister of the Federal Council of Ministers for his follow-ups and assurances regarding preserving the security and stability of the region, stressing the full support of the regional government for these steps.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the need to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga and the army to confront common security and military challenges and threats.
Earlier, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, received in Erbil a high-level federal military delegation headed by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah.
