On Thursday, Ali Al-Azirjawi, a member of the State of Law bloc, revealed that there is a political agreement to vote on the deputy prime ministers and the vacant and newly created ministries as a “single package”.

Al-Azirjawi explained to Shafaq News Agency that “the session is proceeding today and will be held within the next hour, and there is no disagreement between the political blocs.”

He added that the political agreement would be about voting on the four deputies to the Prime Minister, as well as voting on the vacant and newly created ministries.

It is noted that a group of members of the House of Representatives announced on Thursday evening their rejection of creating the positions of deputy prime ministers or creating ministries “based on partisan quotas at a time of responsibility to rationalize spending,” as they put it.

MP Haider Al-Mutairi said during a press conference held at the parliament building with the participation of MPs from various political blocs, which was attended by a correspondent from Shafaq News Agency, that “the resources of the Iraqi people do not belong to the political blocs, and this is a pledge before God and future generations. We clearly declare that we will not vote to create positions for deputy prime ministers.”

The voting session to complete the government cabinet, deputy prime ministers, and newly created ministries is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM today.

Earlier on Thursday, the House of Representatives announced the final list of candidates for ministerial and deputy prime ministerial positions, which included 16 names, among them 4 deputy prime ministers, and the others for vacant and newly created ministries.

The President of the Republic also arrived at Parliament, and the bell to start the session rang more than half an hour ago.
