A banking source explains the reasons for the delay in salary payments in KirkukShafaq News – Kirkuk
A banking source in Kirkuk attributed the suspension of employee salaries on Thursday to the lack of available funds in most ATM outlets and the closure of government banks in the province due to the New Year holiday.

The source explained to Shafaq News Agency that “the suspension of payments came as a result of organizational and technical procedures related to the official holiday, which led to the temporary suspension of work at some bank branches, which directly affected the process of releasing and disbursing salaries to employees.”

He added that “the shortage of cash at electronic payment outlets has exacerbated the suffering of citizens, especially with the increasing demand to withdraw salaries at the same time,” stressing that “the concerned authorities are working to address the problem and gradually inject liquidity during the coming period.”

The source indicated that “government banks are seeking to reopen their branches and resume normal operations starting next Sunday, immediately after the end of the New Year holiday and the completion of the necessary procedures.”

He stressed that the relevant banking authorities are continuously monitoring the situation to ensure that the crisis does not recur and to improve the services provided to citizens in the governorate.

In the last months of last year, the payment of salaries for employees and retirees was delayed due to the lack of cash liquidity in government banks, according to statements by government and banking officials.
