A source in the North Oil Company reported on Wednesday that crude oil exports from the Kurdistan Region fields via the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline have resumed, after a one-day stoppage due to technical and operational reasons.

The source told Shafaq News Agency that “pumping operations have resumed towards the Turkish port of Ceyhan, after addressing the malfunction that caused the temporary halt,” confirming that “exports are currently proceeding normally.”

The source explained that “the exported oil belongs to the Kurdistan Region’s fields and is transported through the pipeline network connected to the main export line to Turkish territory,” noting that “technical teams continued inspection work to ensure the system’s stability and prevent a recurrence of the shutdown.”

A source in the state-owned North Oil Company, based in Kirkuk province, revealed on Tuesday that the export of Kurdistan Region oil via the Turkish port of Ceyhan had stopped, following the suspension of work in some oil companies in the region.

The source told Shafaq News Agency that “the decision to halt exports came after oil companies suspended their operations in a number of fields in the Kurdistan Region, which directly affected the quantities pumped through the pipeline to the port of Ceyhan.”

He added that “the Ministry of Natural Resources in the region informed the North Oil Company, which manages the export process, to officially notify the Federal Ministry of Oil of the cessation of pumping,” noting that “the pumping process has completely stopped today.”

The Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline is one of the most important routes for exporting northern Iraqi oil to global markets, as it transports crude oil to the port of Ceyhan on the Mediterranean Sea in preparation for loading it onto tankers.

No detailed official explanations have yet been issued regarding the reasons for the halt, while the concerned authorities confirm that export operations are continuing at the usual rates.
