Al-Sarraj - The rejection of Maliki by some parties aims to exert pressure to gain advantagesInformation/Baghdad…
Political analyst Ibrahim Al-Sarraj believes that the rejection by some parties of Al-Maliki assuming the premiership is driven by attempts to exert pressure to gain some political advantages.

Al-Sarraj told Al-Maalouma, “The framework is still holding on to Maliki as a candidate for the position of Prime Minister, and it is not necessary for him to gain the approval of everyone within the framework, but rather the nomination was done through the democratic framework.”

He added that “Maliki will be passed as prime minister even if he obtains 8 votes out of 10 within the coordination framework, especially since obtaining total consensus is not an easy matter within the political process.”

He explained that “the objection raised by some parties within the framework against Maliki’s candidacy stems from intentions to gain advantages, or perhaps these parties fear Maliki regaining his influence, especially since he previously secured 100 seats in past parliamentary sessions, which frightens the other blocs and causes concern among some political parties.”
