Member of the Coordination Framework, Uday Abdul-Hadi, confirmed on Sunday that the framework will hold an important meeting today or tomorrow to discuss several local and foreign issues in light of the challenges at hand, particularly in the Middle East region.
Abdul-Hadi told Al-Maalouma, “Based on available indicators, the framework is expected to meet with all its known representatives this evening or tomorrow to discuss important issues, most notably resolving the issue of electing the president of the republic and calling on the Kurdish forces to reach an understanding among themselves to present a candidate or agree to proceed within a national framework in parliament to choose one of the candidates for this important position.”
He added, “The next stage will be tasking the candidate of the largest bloc with forming the government,” noting that the leaks circulating on social media and news sites in recent hours regarding Maliki’s withdrawal are inaccurate, and there are no such indications.
Abdul-Hadi pointed out that “the Coordination Framework is authorized to determine the nature of the third stage of government formation, and an official statement will be issued after the meeting to clarify what was agreed upon regarding the issues in general.”
