Political analyst Saeed al-Badri believes that the political forces within the Coordination Framework will prioritize the national interest in the matter of the prime ministerial candidate, without being influenced by American pressure.
Al-Badri told Al-Maalouma, “The Coordination Framework’s continued support for its candidate, Nouri al-Maliki, for prime minister depends on internal agreements, independent of external influences and American interference, even though Trump’s intervention is considered an attempt to dominate internal Iraqi decision-making.”
He added, “The political forces within the Coordination Framework will certainly consider the national interest, and any decision they make will ultimately be a respected Iraqi decision, as nomination and even appointment do not necessarily mean the formation of the new government.” He explained
that “certain details must be taken into account, especially those related to internal affairs, if Iraqis wish to vote for al-Maliki and make this decision courageously. However, if there are internal obstacles at the national level, then it is expected that there will be other justifications and agreements that will end the controversy and disagreement among the political forces.”
