The United States on Wednesday warned its citizens against traveling to 21 countries around the world due to security risks, including Iraq.

The US State Department issued a Level 4 travel warning to its citizens, advising against travel to these countries.

The list includes Iraq, Afghanistan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Myanmar, Central African Republic, Haiti, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Niger, North Korea, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Yemen.

The US State Department uses a four-level system for travel warnings, ranging from “take normal precautions” to “do not travel” as the highest warning level, which it issued today.

The United States also stressed the need for extreme caution when traveling to certain areas of Mexico, although the country’s overall travel warning level remained at level two.

These warnings came amid escalating global security tensions and deteriorating conditions in several regions experiencing conflicts or unrest.
