The Information Agency / Baghdad –
MP Mohammed al-Mayahi asserted on Saturday that many decisions made by the caretaker government during its tenure were marred by suspicions of corruption and legal violations. He stressed that the new government is responsible for investigating these cases and rescinding all decisions issued during the caretaker period.
Speaking to the Information Agency, al-Mayahi stated, “The caretaker government exceeded its constitutionally defined powers and issued decisions inconsistent with the nature of the transitional phase.” He added, “Many of these decisions raised clear suspicions of corruption and created confusion within state institutions.”
He added that “the new government is required to open a comprehensive investigation into all decisions issued during the caretaker period and to work to cancel them if they are found to be in violation of the law or if there are suspicions of corruption involved.” He pointed out that “the next phase must be based on genuine reform that restores trust between the citizen and the state.”
Al-Mayahi noted that “continuing to operate according to the decisions of the caretaker government will lead to the perpetuation of administrative and financial chaos, which harms the interests of the people and increases their suffering.” He emphasized that “the Parliament will exert pressure to compel the new government to review these files and restore matters to their legal and constitutional order.”
