The State of Law Coalition affirmed on Wednesday that the forces within the Coordination Framework possess sufficient flexibility to overcome the crisis surrounding the nomination of coalition leader Nouri al-Maliki, emphasizing their rejection of any external interference or American veto targeting national figures.
Coalition member Wael al-Jassem told the Information Agency that “the Coordination Framework, despite the magnitude of internal and external pressures, is capable of resolving the nominations issue through national dialogue and prioritizing the country’s best interests, far removed from the politics of imposing wills.”
Al-Jassem added that “what is being circulated regarding an American veto on certain names, including al-Maliki, will not deter the Framework from its decision,” explaining that “the political decision must be purely Iraqi and independent of any dictates that Washington attempts to impose on the Iraqi scene.”
He indicated that “the nomination crisis will not become an obstacle to the unity of the Framework, as there are national options and alternatives capable of achieving consensus,” noting that “the current stage requires bold stances to break the political deadlock and present a candidate who enjoys national acceptance to lead the state, free from narrow calculations.”
