MP Abbas Sarout confirmed on Monday that the formation of the next government will not face any complications, given the parliamentary support from the forces representing the main components of the country.
Sarout told Al-Maalouma that “after the Coordination Framework finalized its decision to nominate Nouri al-Maliki for the premiership, the ball is now in the court of the Kurdish forces to decide on their candidate for the presidency, especially since the Speaker of Parliament has scheduled a session for tomorrow, Tuesday, to vote on the president.”
He added that “as soon as the president is elected, the name of the candidate from the largest bloc—referring to the Coordination Framework—will be put forward to form the cabinet,” noting that “the next government will be formed without any complications and within the established constitutional parameters.”
Sarout pointed out that “the next government will face complex and important issues, and therefore, the support of the political forces for its government program is a priority to ensure overcoming all existing complications.”
