Economic expert Rashid al-Saadi called on the central government today, Thursday, to reduce taxes on citizens and various segments of society instead of increasing them, in order to alleviate the hardship faced by Iraqi citizens.
Al-Saadi told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The government is required to take measures that include reducing taxes and exempting these segments to alleviate the hardship citizens are experiencing and to create job opportunities in the agricultural, industrial, tourism, and service sectors to absorb the large numbers of unemployed.”
He added, “Tax exemptions revitalize all sectors and prevent price increases, not to mention creating job opportunities for the unemployed.” He explained that “the continued operation of all sectors contributes to helping the central government find jobs for the large numbers of unemployed.”
He emphasized that “the current situation requires the central government to move towards reducing and exempting taxes for citizens and all sectors to support the government in attracting the large numbers of unemployed, as well as to alleviate the burden on citizens in light of the living conditions the country is witnessing.”
