Salah Boushi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, ruled out on Thursday the existence of any external veto on the Coordination Framework’s choices for the prime ministership in the upcoming phase. He emphasized that the Framework respects all opinions and does not interfere in the choices of other parties.
Boushi told the Information Agency, “The American administration, in addition to other external parties, has not issued any official comment regarding the nomination of State of Law Coalition leader Nouri al-Maliki or their support for him to assume the position of prime minister in the next phase.”
He added, “The Coordination Framework views the talk of external interference as mere interest and monitoring, without any connection to interference in internal affairs or the allocation of positions.” He pointed out that “the Framework has respected all opinions and choices related to other positions within the constitutional entitlements.”
Boushi clarified that “everything issued by the Coordination Framework is considered an internal matter in which external interference or decisions cannot be imposed,” stressing that “there is no external veto on al-Maliki assuming the premiership.”
