On Wednesday evening, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, reviewed the investment opportunities in the energy sector available in the region, on the sidelines of his participation in the Davos conference, stressing that the energy file will be a major and essential focus in the negotiations to form the Iraqi government .
A statement received by Shafaq News Agency said that Barzani delivered a speech in which he reviewed the promising investment opportunities that the Kurdistan Region possesses in various sectors, highlighting the reform efforts led by the ministerial formation in this regard .
Barzani’s speech came at a reception and dinner organized by the Kar Group to highlight investment opportunities in Kurdistan’s energy sector, amid a notable presence of a select group of investors and representatives of international companies, in order to strengthen economic partnerships and as part of his agenda in Davos .
In his speech, the head of the regional government stressed that “economic development is the main pillar for achieving political and security stability,” noting that “the region aspires to be a link connecting the ancient civilizations in the region due to its strategic location in the heart of the Middle East .”
In the energy and services sector, Barzani pointed to the successes achieved thanks to the reforms, “as the region is close to providing electricity to citizens 24 hours a day, a goal that will be fully achieved throughout Kurdistan by the end of this year .”
Regarding the oil and gas sectors, the Prime Minister stressed the desire to explore more investment opportunities, noting that “Iraq is on the verge of forming a new federal government, and the energy file will be a major and essential focus in the negotiations to form it .”
The Prime Minister of the region sent a message of reassurance to all partners, in which he renewed the Kurdistan Region’s full commitment to and respect for all partnerships and contracts concluded with investors and friends, calling on international companies to “turn again towards Kurdistan because of its promising potential and pivotal role that can contribute to supporting the entire region .”
