MP Ahmed Shaheed affirmed on Saturday that the incoming government is required to make it its first decision to cancel all decisions issued by the caretaker government outside its constitutional authority.
Shaheed told the Information Agency, “These decisions included illegally increasing taxes and customs duties, suspending leaves, scholarships, and transfers among employees, in addition to other decisions such as selling surplus state vehicles.”
He explained that “the caretaker government committed constitutional errors by issuing these decisions, which he considered illegal and lacking constitutional legitimacy.” He added that the incoming government will work to ensure their cancellation immediately upon its formation in a legal and constitutional manner.
It is worth noting that the caretaker government approved a number of controversial decisions during its tenure, including taxes and customs duties, suspending study leaves and job transfers, in addition to other economic decisions.
