Iraqi Foreign Minister to visit Tehran tomorrow

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein is scheduled to pay an official visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Sunday.
An Iranian source told Shafaq News Agency that Hussein’s visit will last one day, during which he will meet with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi and other officials.
He added that Hussein will discuss with Araqchi and officials the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tehran, and the recent escalation between the United States and Iran.
The outgoing Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, stated at the end of 2025 that there were efforts to hold negotiations between America and Iran in the capital, Baghdad, during a televised interview with the Lebanese channel “Al-Mayadeen”.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry, for its part, welcomed the Iraqi mediation to revive bilateral negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
