Al-Saadi - Al-Sudanis concession to Al-Maliki ended the political deadlockThe official spokesperson for the Badr parliamentary bloc, Zahraa Luqman al-Saadi, confirmed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s withdrawal in favor of Nouri al-Maliki has completely ended the political deadlock. She indicated that the premiership has been decided in al-Maliki’s favor with the unanimous support of the Coordination Framework forces.
Speaking to Al-Maalomah, al-Saadi said, “Al-Maliki is guaranteed a third term after receiving broad support within the Coordination Framework, topping the nominations with a 95 percent majority.” She added that “Nouri al-Maliki possesses an important advantage: he has remained active in the political process even during periods when he was out of office.” She affirmed that “the issue of the premiership is settled, and al-Maliki will be officially appointed to the position.”
On another note, al-Saadi explained that “a member of parliament should be close to the people and speak to them frankly and clearly, without excessive diplomacy or flattery. What is needed is a direct address that reflects the concerns of the public.”
She concluded by saying that “the next phase requires clarity in positions and swift resolution of political entitlements, avoiding any further obstruction.”
