Khaled Waleed, a member of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, confirmed on Sunday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has not officially announced his withdrawal from the race for the premiership.
The coalition stated in a statement received by “Mail” that “the Sudanese government has achieved tangible and clear results at the level of state institutions,” noting “attempts by some parties to ‘demonize’ the government’s work and the achievements made . ”
Walid explained that “the coordination framework still relies on the language of understandings, and seeks to complete its consultations with the Sunni and Kurdish forces to resolve the issue of the candidate for the premiership,” indicating that “there are names that are putting themselves forward as compromise candidates in light of the continued political movement . ”
He pointed out that “Al-Sudani, who has not officially announced his withdrawal from the candidacy, is a real supporter of Al-Maliki,” stressing that “the next prime minister will face a number of internal, regional and international challenges, as well as economic and developmental challenges that require him to strengthen the state’s non-oil resources . ”
