The Badr parliamentary bloc submitted two proposals on Saturday to increase a portion of non-oil revenues in Iraq.
MP Hassan al-Kaabi, speaking to reporters, said that “one of the points of the government program is to raise non-oil revenues, not to impose taxes,” stressing the need for “solutions, including utilizing experts and consultants, and how to be an exporting country, not an importing one.”
He continued, “Iraq is rich in minerals, oil, and agriculture, and it is possible to utilize the available water scientifically for agriculture,” stressing “the need to strengthen industrial facilities by creating strong, reputable industrial companies that aim to strengthen the national product, employ the workforce, and export to the countries of the world.”
He stated that “what hinders this is the bureaucracy, some laws, and the corrupt individuals present,” stressing “the need to cut off the corrupt hands that benefit from imports and the failure to strengthen the national product.”
