The Iraqi parliament held its third session on Saturday, its sixth session, and the number of attending MPs has been gradually decreasing since the first session, with more than 100 MPs absent from the sessions so far without a clear reason.
Parliament began its first session with only 37 members absent. The highest attendance of 292 members was due to attendance to take the oath. After that, in the second session, only 221 members attended, meaning 108 members were absent.
Today, the third session of Parliament was held with the attendance of 209 members, meaning the absence of 120 members. This reveals a gradual decrease in attendance and reveals the presence of more than 100 members who have begun to be absent from the new Parliament, even though it has just begun its work. This reveals a trend that will continue until the end of this session, as there are often more than 100 “ghost” members who completed the previous fifth session without attendance while continuing to receive their salaries.
