The Information Agency / Baghdad –
On Thursday, Diaa al-Nasiri, a member of the State of Law Coalition, confirmed that the meeting between Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, has not yet yielded any clear results. He indicated that while there is difficulty in resolving some issues, it does not amount to a complete deadlock within the coordination framework.
Speaking to the Information Agency, al-Nasiri said, “The coordination framework does not want to alienate either side, neither Maliki nor al-Sudani, but rather seeks to reach understandings that guarantee a unified political stance.” He explained that “the framework informed both parties of the necessity to agree on one of them to assume the premiership in the next phase.”
He added that “the State of Law Coalition refused to break with political custom by selecting the second deputy speaker of parliament,” noting that “the framework is keen to maintain political balance and avoid taking steps that could create confusion in the political landscape.”
Al-Nasiri indicated that “the next government will complete the projects initiated by the Al-Sudani government and will not neglect them, as these projects represent a commitment to the Iraqi people.” He also emphasized his support for “the proposal to have a party or bloc endorse the next prime minister and assume responsibility for supporting him politically both inside and outside parliament.”
He concluded by saying that “the current stage requires greater understanding and flexibility among the political forces to ensure the formation of a stable government capable of continuing its work.”
