The winner reveals the most prominent names nominated for the premiershipThe head of the Tasmim parliamentary bloc, Amer al – Fayez, confirmed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s meeting with the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, was proposed by the Coordination Framework. He explained that this meeting falls within the mechanisms for selecting the next prime minister.
Al-Fayez told Al-Maalomah that “the Coordination Framework adopted several points within the mechanism for selecting the prime minister, including that the candidate not form a party or support any political entity in the upcoming elections.”
He added that “within the Coordination Framework, there are parties convinced of al-Sudani’s continued leadership, and others who see al-Maliki as a suitable option.” He noted that “among the names proposed for the premiership are Hamid al-Shatri, Abdul Hussein Abtan, Ali Shukri, Mohammed Sahib al-Daraji, and Basim al-Badri, in addition to other names.”
He indicated that “the list of nine candidates may see changes with the addition or removal of some names in the coming period.”
The winner explained that “the coordination framework operates according to a successful mechanism that has contributed to uniting the framework’s forces, and there is no need to look for alternatives at the present time,” stressing that “the religious authority did not interfere, directly or indirectly, in the selection of the prime minister and did not send any message in this regard,” noting that “the next prime minister will be from within the coordination framework and will have complete freedom in managing the government.”
