Economist - The rise in the exchange rate is linked to market traders not government decisionsInformation/Baghdad…
Economic researcher Diaa Abdul Karim explained that the rise in the dollar exchange rate is linked to market traders and exchange companies, and is not a result of government decisions.
Abdul Karim told Al-Maalouma, “There is a lot of speculation happening in the Iraqi market, exploiting the external and regional crises and tensions that occur from time to time, even though the official exchange rate has not changed.”
He added, “Exchange companies, some banks, especially the public currency auction markets, and major traders in Iraq are the main reasons behind the rise in the exchange rate, seeking to secure financial gains.”
He indicated that “the government has not made any decisions regarding the currency or the auction, and therefore, the current rise in the dollar exchange rate will return to normal in the next few days.”
