Winner - The coordinating framework agreed on a mechanism for selecting the prime minister but did not decide on a nameThe head of the Tasmeem parliamentary bloc, Amer al-Fayez, confirmed on Tuesday that the coordination framework agreed during its meeting on a mechanism for selecting the prime minister. He indicated that meetings will intensify in the coming days to reach a final result soon.
Al-Fayez told Al-Maalomah, “The initial mechanism for selecting the prime minister has not yet determined the candidate’s name, and the race remains open between Haider al-Abadi, Nouri al-Maliki, and Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, in addition to six other candidates.” He explained that “the coordination framework has not yet agreed on any of the nine proposed candidates.”
He added, “The coordination framework is not placing a veto on any candidate, and if no agreement is reached on the nine currently proposed names, other alternatives will be considered.”
He clarified that “the frequent meetings held at al-Abadi’s residence do not yet yield any decisive indications or final agreements, but rather are part of ongoing political consultations.”
