Political expert Ghalib al-Da’mi confirmed on Thursday that no agreement has yet been reached on the selection of the next prime minister, indicating that discussing a specific candidate is premature.
Al-Da’mi told the Information Agency, “Differences and contradictions among the parties have prevented a resolution to the issue so far, and discussing a specific candidate is premature.”
He added, “The coordinating body has approximately 45 days to select the prime minister, and this period is sufficient to reach a consensus on the most suitable candidate.”
Al-Da’mi called for the new prime minister to be “capable of representing the aspirations of the Iraqi people, providing services, and bridging the gap between the government and the citizens.”
