Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on Tuesday that his country is ready to start and resume negotiations to lift sanctions with the new US administration. Gharibabadi, who was part of the Iranian negotiating team with the European Troika in Geneva recently, said in response to a question about negotiations with Trump: “We have always been ready, and if the will is also present on the American side, the talks will achieve the desired results,” he said. He added, “If the other side adopts different policies and approaches, Iran will adapt its policy according to those trends.”
He stressed that “there are suitable opportunities to resume dialogue and reach an agreement.”
In December 2024, Tehran resumed talks with the European Troika countries on Iran’s nuclear program on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly summit in New York.
Three rounds of consultations have been held so far, the last of which was in Geneva on January 13, 2025.
