Death is everywhere - Trump attacks Los Angeles officialsUS President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday again attacked California officials as firefighters battled raging wildfires in Los Angeles.

“The fires are still burning in Los Angeles. The incompetent politicians have no idea how to put them out,” Trump wrote on his social media network, Truth Social.

“It’s one of the worst disasters in the history of our country. They simply can’t put out the fires. What happened to them?” he added, noting that “death is everywhere.”

Although it is too early to know the source of the fires, authorities have been criticised for their preparedness and response.

Firefighting tanks were empty in the upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood, which was hit by one of five wildfires in the area, and water shortages hampered efforts elsewhere.

With about a week left before his return to the White House, Trump continues to criticize Democrats, launching multiple attacks without providing evidence on California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Newsom invited him to visit Los Angeles and survey the damage with him.

The fires have so far destroyed more than 12,000 buildings, according to the California Fire Department, while the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported at least 16 deaths.

Despite the efforts of thousands of firefighters to contain the flames, the Pacific Palisades Fire spread northwest of Los Angeles on Saturday, threatening the densely populated San Fernando Valley as well as the Getty Museum and its priceless artworks.
