The leader of the Coordination Framework, Jabbar Awda, confirmed today, Thursday, that the American forces in Syria facilitated the ISIS organization’s control over more than 18 military sites belonging to the Syrian army, as part of a strategy aimed at strengthening Washington’s influence in the region.
Awda said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency that “the American goal in Syria is not to eliminate ISIS, but to keep it as a tool to achieve its political and military goals,” noting that “the United States is using the organization as a pretext to expand its military presence in Syria and control more natural resources.”
He added that “the American forces facilitated ISIS’s control over these military sites after the events of December 8, which highlights Washington’s unwillingness to end the terrorist organization,” stressing that “these forces avoid clashing with ISIS despite its widespread presence in the Syrian desert, and do not target its headquarters with bombing, which raises questions about Washington’s hidden role in strengthening the organization’s presence in these areas.”
He pointed out that “the United States is leaving ISIS to expand in certain areas in Syria, where it is funded and supported by American intelligence circles, using the organization as a pretext to target and destroy the infrastructure of Syrian cities under the pretext of fighting ISIS, while seeking to strengthen its influence in the region.”
He explained that “ISIS obtains large quantities of weapons and equipment from the Syrian army’s warehouses in the areas it controls, which enhances its military capabilities and expands the scope of its threat.”
It is noteworthy that ISIS has recently begun to spread again in many Syrian regions, especially in the Badia, which has raised international concern about its greater return to activity.
