Today, Sunday, the representative of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Muhammad Al-Baldawi, explained the reasons for the United States imposing sanctions on Iraqi banks, while confirming that America is trying to change its financial policy in Iraq.
Al-Baldawi said in a statement to the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “America is trying to tamper with Iraqi money by imposing sanctions on Iraqi banks and introducing Jordanian banks into the Iraqi economic arena,” noting that “attention must be paid to the suspicious role that America is playing in trying to control the banking sector.” “The Iraqi state is a hostage of foreign banks.”
He added, “This game goes towards matching the visions of the Jordanian and American authorities,” noting that “Jordanian banks grant licenses amid simple procedures without scrutiny.”
Al-Baldawi concluded by saying, “The government must work to lift the ban on Iraqi banks in order to revive the economy, especially since the country is going through a major urbanization and investment phase,” stressing “the necessity of getting rid of Jordanian banks because of their American-Jordanian consequences and interests.”
It is noteworthy that America imposed sanctions on 34 Iraqi banks in order to limit the Iraqi economy, and pushed the introduction of Jordanian banks, the number of which reached four, to fully control the Iraqi economy, amid the neglect of the Iraqi government.
