Coordinating Committee - Food Security is against the Constitution and we will not vote on it in its current formToday, Tuesday, the coordination framework affirmed that the Food Security Law violates the constitution and political norms, indicating that it will not vote on it in its current form.

Member of the framework, Alia Nassif, said in a press interview that “it is not possible to pass any law that contains a financial aspect according to the decision of the Federal Court,” adding, “We presented several proposals, including the transfer of the law to the next government because there is no real control over it and its transformation into a law of spoils.”

She added, “The deportation proposal to the next government comes due to the possibility of questioning it and the possibility of monitoring this money allocated to the law.”

Nassif explained, “The other proposal is that the law be sent through a budget, because the budget contains provisions and final accounts, which is lacking in this law, as there are no final accounts, not even oversight.”

She pointed out that “even if the House of Representatives initiates a subsequent oversight of the law, it is illegal because there is no legal text that places this post-oversight except in the final accounts in the budget.”

And she continued, “Therefore, we have fear as a framework of voting on this law without refining it and setting only the three foundations (food, electricity, social security), as we vote only on these foundations.”

The member of the coordination framework concluded her speech, that “there are funds in the law that include the rights of the central and southern Euphrates, but there are spoils for distributing these funds to other governorates illegally and unconstitutionally.”
