Political analyst Riyadh Al-Wahili said, on Monday, that Iraq’s geostrategic location makes it an important country on the road between East and West, explaining that, American and Gulf countries are seeking to write off the Silk Road from Iraq.

Al-Wahaili said, in a statement to the “Information” agency, that “there are Gulf states, America seeks to prevent the passage of the Silk Road in Iraq, because it will negatively affect the economy of those countries,” noting that “America and the Gulf states pressured the government to prevent the completion of this road and urged towards signing the Aqaba project agreement despite It is not economically viable for Iraq.”

He added, “America does not want Iraq to be part of the Silk Road, because it will weaken their economic power in the region.”

He pointed out that “the Silk Road project has a positive and significant impact on the entire Iraqi economy and in all fields, especially investment, the movement of goods and merchandise, and the increase in job opportunities.”

Earlier, political parties criticized the failure to speed up the completion of the Al-Faw port, and ignoring the Silk Road, at a time when it was being promoted to extend the Aqaba pipeline, which might connect Iraqi oil to the Zionist entity.
