A former member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Abdul Hadi Al-Saadawi, confirmed, on Tuesday, that the Central Bank’s measures are causing the smuggling of $200 million per day from Iraq.

Al-Saadawi said, in a statement to the “Information” agency, “There is no official mechanism so far to track the Iraqi money smuggled abroad, which is continuing due to the auction of selling currency by the Central Bank abroad, without there being goods corresponding to the currency exported abroad.”

He pointed out that “the Interpol police are dishonest, offset by the government’s lack of seriousness in tracking the wanted figures and quarantining their money abroad or returning them to Iraq, and therefore Iraqi money in hard currency is still going out to other countries.”

He pointed out that “the value of the money that escapes per day has reached 200 million dollars because the Central Bank of Iraq continues to sell the currency on the local money exchange without monitoring its trends.” Done / 25 SR
