MP Thamer Theban: The government is deliberately delaying sending the budget to parliament
2020-12-15
The MP for the Al-Sadiqoun bloc, Thamer Theban, accused, on Tuesday, the government of intentionally failing to send the draft federal budget for 2021 as scheduled.
Theban said, in a statement, that “the fabrication of the delay in sending the budget to Parliament aims to use the salaries of employees again as a political pressure card.”
He stressed that “the government of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi is the only one who bears responsibility for any delay that may occur as a result of not sending the budget until now.”
Theban added, “The Financial Management Law imposes on the government to send the budget to the House of Representatives on 15 October, but it did not do so, and this puts it under tort.”
He pointed out that “the government over the past months used the salaries of employees as a pressure card between the government and some political parties.”
The Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal, had revealed that the general budget for next year was not included in the agenda of the cabinet session today, Tuesday.
