The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed, on Thursday, that the Budget Committee at the Ministry of Finance has begun preparing a draft budget for the next three years, while it indicated that it is awaiting the arrival of the draft budget for the current year 2020.

The reporter of the committee, Ahmed Al-Saffar, said in a statement to the official news agency that “the budget committee at the Ministry of Finance has begun preparing the draft budget for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023,” stressing that “there is a new strategy by developing a budget project for the next three years.”

He added that “the budget for the year 2021 is binding and will be implemented. As for the budgets of 2022 and 2023, they are planned, and adjustments will be made to them in a timely manner.”

He pointed out that “this strategy will focus on the investment side, and this project will be completed before the end of this year.”

He explained that “the Finance Committee is waiting to send the draft budget law for the year 2021, to find out what has been spent during the past 8 months, and what is planned for its spending and its collection of revenues and expenditures in the next four months,” indicating that “the committee will proceed with its sessions and meetings with the aim of discussing current financial issues.”
