Iraq will soon receive two giant shipsBAGHDAD (Reuters) – Transport Minister Kazem Al-Yamami announced on Wednesday that two giant ships would be joining the Iraqi navy and a loading capacity of 30,000 tons.
In a statement to the ministry, Al-Hammami said, “The two ships will work to transport ration card loads as well as rice and wheat payloads for the Iraqi-Vietnamese company.”
He added that “the Iraqi commercial fleet did not reach this level of transport of cargo,” stressing that “the accession of the two ships to the fleet of the General Company for Maritime Transport for the first time is an achievement added to the achievements of the Ministry of Transport in this regard.”
The Minister of Transport said that “the ministry is currently considering the possibility of purchasing ships with large capacity for the purpose of transporting wheat payloads between America, Australia and Iraq,” noting that “the number of ships will be eight after the accession of the two giants.”
