4-7-2014 Intel/Newshound Guru American Contractor …the April 30th elections are still on for now. Although, it was nearly called off after the members of the Iraq Election Commission resigned. The reason being, they protested the written language inside the election law. The law stated candidates must be “of good reputation.” This gave political parties leverage to remove opponents from the election political process. The Election board members have withdrawn their group resignation and went back to work. I expect that there will be more incidents like this as we get closer to April 30th. My prediction is that Prime Minister Nuri Maliki will remain after the elections. I could be wrong, however, Prime Minister Maliki is working non-stop in keeping his position.
4-7-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni Article: “Araji: The governments of the Center and Kurdistan are responsible for delay approving the Budget” The Kurds want assurance they will get 17% of the budget and that means they need an Oil and Gas law done. So until they do, they will not show for a quorum. IMO, the first order of business for the new PM is the Oil and Gas law.
4-7-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni Article: “Central bank: 15 Arab and foreign banks opened branches in Iraq since the beginning of this year” Second half of 2014 will be exciting. All these banks are getting ready for business. The doors need to open for that to happen. Even though it is not at our pace, they are doing what they are suppose to do…which is get ready for “openness to the world”
4-7-2014 Newshound Guru tlm724 Article: “ADIB among banks planning Iraq expansion amid oil boom” Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) is the latest lender after JPMorgan, Citi and Standard Chartered to expand business in Iraq. The branches would help provide liaison functions for Citi’s clients globally and contribute to the development of Iraq’s banking and capital markets…These major banks (players) don’t hesitate to open and operate in Iraq! It a sure sign that the financial side of Iraq has taken that quantum leap they talk about!
4-7-2014 Misinformed Intel Guru Okie_Oil_Man ACCORDING TO INFORMATION RECEIVED THIS MORNING THE G.C.R. IS SCHEDULED FOR TODAY. IF THERE ARE ANY ISSUES THEN THIS COULD RUN INTO FRIDAY. I WAS FURTHER ADVISED THE ANNOUNCEMENT WILL COME THRU THE MEDIA ADDRESSING A G.C.R. ON MSNBC.
4-6-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru BGG [Do you think there’s any chance of the U.N. forcing Iraq back under chapter 7 with all this garbage going on about budget, elections?] I think there were some serious threats laid out in the last “IMF pre-consultations” – Iraq had better take this serious. Maliki keeps monkeying with the CBI they promised worse sanctions than the “previous regime” – I think is the language they used.
4-6-2014 Intel/Newshound Guru Poppy3 [do you think they will wait till caretaker gov is in place before any monetary reform?] NO, I THINK THE RV CAN GO ANYTIME AND THAT THE FINANCIAL REFORM PROCESS HAS BEEN PROCEEDING ON SCHEDULE …
4-6-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni Article: “Urgent .. postpone the parliament session until further notice pending agreement on a budget” I would expect that parliament is dead until after the elections now. Nobody wants to work with Maliki. Unfortunately, the Kurds will never agree to come to parliament to vote until there is a oil agreement since they want to be assured they will get their 17% revenue. Something Maliki never has delivered on. I was just thinking this may be to our benefit..since this may reflect negatively on Maliki, it may force him to get the CBI to make monetary change as a way to save face.
