On Saturday evening, Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei sarcastically asked which American party Tehran should address its message to, threatening the United States with a “catastrophic” response should it start a war with his country.
Rezaei wrote a post on the “X” platform, which was followed by Shafaq News Agency, in which he addressed Washington, saying: “You have lost the war and the elections, Vance (the US Vice President) has admitted defeat, Rubio (the US Secretary of State) is about to leave, Hegseth (the US Secretary of Defense) is about to be fired, and the commander of the Central Command (Admiral Brad Cooper) has now become a podcast host.”
He added, asking: “So, who exactly in Washington do we need to get this message across to? Start a war, and you will face a catastrophic response.”
The Democrats succeeded in seizing control of the US Congress, with its two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives, in the midterm elections held last Tuesday.
US President Donald Trump had said that he believed the war with Iran was “part” of the extensive losses suffered by the Republican Party.
Last month, Vance sent a letter to Rezaei, proposing direct peace talks that would also include Iran’s nuclear program.
Rezaei said the message showed that the United States had changed its tone towards Iran, describing it as evidence of “the strength and victory of the Iranian people.”
There is a sense of anticipation regarding the possibility of a renewed military confrontation between the United States and Iran, given Trump’s assertion that he will decide “soon” whether to proceed with launching new strikes.
