A delegation from the Kurdistan Region will visit Baghdad tomorrow to discuss the 2027 budget and outstanding issuesSipan Akreyi, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s parliamentary bloc, revealed on Saturday that a high-level government delegation from the Kurdistan Region will visit Baghdad on Sunday to discuss the region’s share of the 2027 federal budget. He also identified the most prominent outstanding financial and oil issues between Baghdad and Erbil. Akreyi told the official news agency that “a government delegation from the Kurdistan Region, including the region’s finance minister, Awat Janab Nouri, will visit Baghdad on Sunday to hold talks with federal government officials regarding the region’s share of next year’s budget.”

He added that “the visit’s agenda includes meetings with the ministers of oil, finance and reconstruction in the federal government to discuss a number of common issues, in addition to the budget file.”

Akri also explained that “the cabinet meeting, which was scheduled to be held today, Saturday, to discuss the draft budget law, has been postponed until next Tuesday,” indicating that “the postponement came as a result of the continued disagreements between the parties regarding the budget.”

He also pointed out that “the contentious issues between Baghdad and Erbil are not limited to employee salaries, but also include ASYCUDA system entitlements, internal revenues and the oil file,” stressing that “these issues have not been resolved yet, and require further discussions between the two sides.”
